October 9-10 & 16-17, 10am - 5pm Daily
Did you know that it is ARTrails 25th Anniversary? I was one of the artists who helped coordinate the very first ARTrails. As I flashback to 1985, I remember a group of us artists were looking for a way to get the public to our studios. It was a big year for me as that is when my 20' x 20' studio space was built. I invite you to come on out and see my studio now, hear ARTrails stories and see my new bronze "Gem" Collection.
I just finished 6 more new pieces for this first ARTrails weekend. Four of them are carved from Utah Calcite like the one shown above. It is always a favorite stone and glows in the sunlight. The other two are carved from Picasso Marble and Brucite. They are more directional in design. I've let the stone tell me what it wants to do by drilling it first and then through the transition of veining and texture, I carve the design into pointed curves. Typically, I have a preconceived idea of the design. These two new pieces are completed through this transition process of letting it flow from the rock.
I hope to see you this weekend or next. Cheers to ARTrails!
