Gem Collection

T BARNY
SCULPTURE NEWS

What a jewel of a night! Jade, Sapphire or Ruby - what's your favorite patina? In June, I had my Collector's join me at a 48 foot long table for an unforgettable black tie evening that sparkled with my new Bronze "Gem" Collection. I introduced my eight bronze designs which are now available in 3 patina choices. I also had many new stone pieces available in the Sculpture Garden & Gallery. My Collector's also got a "Sneak Peek" at next year's show titled ROCK & ROLL seeing some of the musical instruments that I've carved from 'Stones That Ring'. Ron Casentini, the speaker for the event, spoke about "The Challenges of Collecting Art in the 21st Century". Zin catered the event and got creative with our request for a "Treasure Chest" dessert. I have these events each June to honor my Collector's and give them the first look at the new work. Any pieces that did not find a home that night are then shipped out to my galleries. You will never see this collection here at my studio again. This makes the event very special and my Collector's take advantage of this opportunity. By the way, that's me in the top hat.

New Patina's

T BARNY SCULPTURE
On Memorial Day, my wife, Melinda and my Marketing Director, Lori and I walked through the staging of my Collector's Event here on the property. We now have a new map design for all that we have planned. Each year in June we have an event that honors my Collector's. This year it will be a private, black tie affair as I launch my bronze "Gem Collection" in new patina colors. The guests will be photographed as they come in with the sculpture picture here titled EFFLEURAGE and me, "The Artist". The Jade Patina is featured in these pictures. Soon to be released will be the Sapphire Patina and the Ruby Patina. I also have been carving out new stone work in Argentine Onyx, Mexican Fluorite, Utah Calcite and Iranian Onyx. I'm gearing up for the big second half of my year so stay tuned.

Pondering Shape

T BARNY SCULPTURE NEWS
Can you believe it's still raining? It's almost June! My tarp is back over the front of my studio and the heater is on. I just finished a new piece I carved from Mexican Fluorite. Here is the picture of "Congomen". It shows what kind of stone I'm talking about. "Congomen" was created and sold in 2007. The new fluorite piece I just finished has a lot of purple, light green and dark teal. I brought it into the gallery at lunchtime and I'm pondering the shape. It has more of a horizontal flow to it than my typical swirls and pointed, swaying tops. This year I have been stretching myself to create musical instruments out of stone, cast my bronzes in jewel-tone colors and carve my classic beauties all at the same time. This new fluorite piece seems to suggest through its shape that I'm expanding my focus, my ideas and my direction all at the same time. Just something to ponder...

Rain or Shine

T BARNY SCULPTURE NEWS
Rain or Shine - It's Studio Time. I just finished a superellipsoid shape like the piece, AERIE, pictured on the left but in this gorgeous stone Iranian Onyx, like KORALL pictured on the right. It's a jewel if I do say so! The veining and dark areas of the stone are highlighted in the design. This weather is unbelievable in May. We had a 1/2" of rain on Monday. It's now Wednesday and it's still raining. I can't believe I'm still using my studio heater but it's keeping me going on my new collection of work.
