Barny Harris LIVE!

I'll be in Santa Fe soon for “Barny Harris LIVE!”, an exhibition of new works by myself and New Mexico painter Gregory Frank Harris. This exhibition is an exploration of the human relationship with the natural world. From the soul-stirring geometries of the sun-drenched Southwestern landscape to the mystifying contours found in my Mobius-inspired pieces, we will celebrate nature’s infinite forms in works that are both intimate and broadly accessible.

Hunter Kirkland Contemporary GalleryPlease come see me at the opening reception on Friday, September 9th from 5:00 – 7:00pm at Hunter Kirkland Contemporary, 200-B Canyon Road in Santa Fe! If you can’t make it then, don’t worry...the exhibition will continue throughout the month of September 2016. This exhibition marks a number of milestones for me – it is a celebration of 36 years spent carving over 200 different types of stone sourced from 43 nations, and it's shortly following my 60th birthday.

MedialMy latest Mobius-inspired, seashell-like works in bronze and an array of unusual stones are, to quote a collector, “Nothing short of mind-bending”.

If you missed it – I was recently in the news! Ann Carranza wrote a flattering article with a new take on my life’s work. Maybe reading it will inspire you to join me in person this September. http://www.pressdemocrat.com/news/5839928-181/healdsburg-sculptor-is-a-psychologist

What A Year It Has Been...

2015 started with a flood in the corporation yard of the T Barny Studio.Even my large blocks of stone were tumbled by the force of the water. It meant a lot of clean up work

During the summer we had a T Barny marketing summit which helped me clarify who is buying T Barny sculpture and who are potential collectors!. I also attended a 'carving camp' at Camp Brotherhood in Washington State sponsored by the Northwester Stone Sculptors Association!!!

Then my T Barny season started with a show in Santa Rosa, which was followed by one in Carmel at Mary Titus Gallery. That was Clara & Sander's first T Barny gallery opening.

After that it was our annual show at Hunter Kirkland Galley in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Owner Nancy Hunter always find the most amazing match between my sculpture and a particular painter! This year it was Peter Burega.

The wrap up was Sonoma County's annual Art Trails. It is the only time I open my T Barny studio, gallery and sculpture gardens to the general public. We are open for two weekends and while it is a lot of work, it is also satisfying to see 60+ people coming to visit every day! I guess people really do want to 'touch a T Barny

Howdy! See y'all this Friday, Sept. 19 in Santa Fe!

Join Me Friday, September 19 in Santa Fe for SpiritStone!

How is a California stone sculptor influenced by a 25-year relationship with the Santa Fe spirit? SpiritStone answers this question. I'll be giving a quick talk at my reception this Friday, Sept. 19 between 5-7pm about my connection with the Southwest. Santa Fe reaches out and creates a deeply personal connection with each artist who visits. On my very first drive into Santa Fe the light, the mountains, and the interplay between them just called to me as a sculptor. I've been exhibiting in Santa Fe Galleries now for 25 years. Come by and meet Nancy Hunter, the gallery owner who continues to represent me since 2004. Hunter Kirkland Contemporary, 200-B Canyon Road, Santa Fe, NM.

SpiritStone

Celebrating 25 Years of Exhibiting in Santa Fe

Howdy! The 2014 Collection is almost done. The new sculptures will start their journey soon. A private Collector's Preview will kick it off before the pieces travel my 2014 Season Line-Up of Shows. I've been showing in Santa Fe galleries for 25 years so this collection is called SpiritStone. It's all about my connection with the Southwest Spirit, my travels there, the rocks I've discovered along the way and bringing that Spirit back into my Alexander Valley studio. Check out the stones I've chiseled into - Utah Picasso Marble, Utah Calcite, Mexican Fluorite, New Mexico Alabaster and Nevada Zebra Marble.

Lucky and Luckier

Cambria Stone Symposium - Love Carving by the Ocean

I have a carved rock that says, "If you're lucky enough to be at the beach you're lucky enough." Well, I'm luckier cause I get to carve at the beach. Just got back from Cambria and Camp Ocean Pines where they hold the annual Stone Symposium. I've been an instructor there many years but this year I just went to carve, hang out and I even learned a few things. Nice to be back in my own studio though.

This Green Colored Stone is called Argentine Onyx
Went to a wedding this past weekend in Charleston, SC - now they know how to throw a wedding and celebrate all weekend long. Great city! It was fun but nice to be back in the studio. I have quite a line-up of galleries and shows this 2014 Season. If you're on my mailing list, then you got your card. Kicking off in June, my new sculpture will travel from Healdsburg to Carmel and onto Santa Fe. Check out my work at these galleries: Titus Contemporary Gallery and Hunter Kirkland Contemporary Gallery. Charleston on my mind...have you ever been there?

Left Brain, Right Brain

Vickie Norris of Webistree, Lori Mole, my Marketing Director and me
Being an artist isn't just about being in the studio. Here I am sitting in on a website meeting. I'm happy to announce that I will be getting a new website soon. My first website was created in 1995. My second website came along in 2005. I guess you could say I get that 10 year itch. Melinda took this picture; she's spearheading the project with Vickie. Ok now, back to the studio.

Mary Titus with her gallery dog "Moe", Carmel, CA
What do you love about Carmel? I love the ocean and beach of course, but also that it is dog friendly. I am excited to be showing there again at Titus Gallery on San Carlos Street. It is located just two doors from Clint Eastwood's Hog's Breath restaurant. When you are in Carmel, pop in and say "Hi" to Mary Titus and gallery dog, "Moe".
